Question: Does a notice of appearance filed by a defendants lawyer in a litigation case mean that the case is going to trial?

Answer: A Notice of Appearance simply lets the court and opposing counsel know that a party to a lawsuit is being represented by an attorney. Without a Notice of Appearance, there is a presumption that a party is proceeding pro se (without being represented by an attorney).
