"Q: Do I have to have a attorney at a child custody case...
...even though I can't afford one?
My babyfather is seeking full coustody even though he's on a restraining order due to a domestic violence situation. He cannot get in contact with his daughter or me for a year. & I still have my proof of the reason why I issued the order of protection."
A: It is always in your best interests...
.....to be represented by an attorney at a court proceeding. You can always proceed on your own, but you will be held to the standards of an attorney. Don't think that justice will be done Just because you're in the right and perceive to have all the cards stacked in your favor. If the outcome of this case isn't what you had hoped for it will be very hard for any attorney to undo the court's decision.
